Last week, my application for a Discover card was approved.  Unfortunately, I did not get the APR that was advertised but one of 24%.  Has this happened to anybody?

This will happen because you would not clear or settle the previous a loan amount,or invalid address, this will happen to many usually .they might have stored details in database.

you need to clear the previous loans before applying for other plans or loans,so that you will get more points, that is the advantage of credit points.

It will happen man at times we can not do any thing, some technical issues or some verification problems.you need to submit correct address proof at that time otherwise it will get rejected.

Your application was approved means they shoul give it to you, because they advertised 24%,they should give the APR to you.

I have had a discover card for over ten years.  I used it and paid it off many times.  The very last time I used it for business purposes our business fell through and was unable to pay  for a while.  They stopped all late payments and worked something out with me.  The only issue I had with them was that a lot of places did not take discover.  I had this happen to me many times.

I thought that in order to raise your APR, they have to give advance notice. If on a new card, they can offer you any APR they want. This is on a new card, right?

I thought that they could offer you any APR if it is a new card.  If you are really wanting the card then I suggest requesting the reason.

Some great information on Discover card is below.  It have 5% cash back on purchases at all kinds of places.  It was one of the original credit cards with no annual fees.  The card became popular quickly because of that.

Discover Card has over 50 million cardmembers and the Discover Network has more than 4 million merchant and cash access locations. The Pulse automatic teller machine (ATM) network currently serves more than 4,500 banks, credit unions, and savings institutions. However, unlike its competitors, the Discover Card is neither issued nor widely accepted outside the U.S., although it can be used to obtain cash from ATM locations worldwide. Owing to its heritage at Sears, an additional benefit of the Discover Card is the ability to make payments on the account, in person, at participating Sears stores.
