Credit card shimming devices are getting so small and unobtrusive they are near undetectable. I am waiting for the day the mastermind add the shim to the machine via his own "card purchase". The price of the shims has dropped too. Now ever customer is also a potential shim dropper.

That's scary. If that is so, then hopping online might become the "safest" place to use your card, (unless its a phishing site of course). Think about it, a guy goes into 7-11 to buy a pack of gum (they do not ask for ID under $25), and leaves knowing everyone after him i having their number information ripped.

I have heard little about this.  What exactly is a shim?  How does it work?  What would I look for?  Im glad to now know that there is something out there like that because I am a causious person.
